West Challacombe Mine is situated about half a mile northwest of Combe Martin Mine. Little is known about the mine but it is thought to be quite an ancient concern. It was known to have been at work between 1790 and 1792 producing 9,293 tons of iron ore and was also working in 1856. Three of the nine known lodes have been named. They are Capel Lode, Crown Lode and Wheelpath Lode.
