Ringleshuttes Mine, Devon

Principal ores: TIN

Ashburton: grid reference SX675369

Also known as Holne Moor Mine, Ringleshuttes was an open cast mine worked principally on one E-W trending lode. There is the ruined base of a chimney at SX67546987, that was demolised by the Army and beside it the collar of a shaft. To the west there is a small stream with evidence of tinstreaming and on the far slope of the valley there are only shallow workings. To the east there is a substantial trench running up the side of Holne Ridge. This ends abruptly. The mine was closed for good in about 1900. There are no detailed records of production apart from 1.1 tons of tin raised in 1854-55.
