Acorn Cottage. Acorn Cottage Bed and Breakfast is a picturesque former farmhouse set within half an acre of gardens in West Devon on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and close to the Cornish border.Acorn Cottage is a 5 minute drive from Tavistock (voted Best Market Town in 2005) which provides excellent shops pubs restaurants a pannier market Tues. to Sat.a swimming pool and The Wharf entertainment centre with cinema art gallery and concert hall. An ideal base for exploring the South West with easy access to Dartmoor and the outstanding peninsula coastline. We are also located just off the Devon Coast to Coast (Route 27) part of the national cycle network. There are several National Trust properties nearby as well as other gardens. The Eden Project is about an hour away. There is a golf course 2 miles away and a gliding club about 1 mile away. We can cater for vegetarians and other special diets. Children are welcome and there are many attractions for them. We are members of the Dartmoor Partnership and have been inspected by them and awarded The Dartmoor First Award which means we are committed to putting Dartmoor first by using local organic fair traded or home made produce whenever possible and helping to protect the local environment by composting reusing and recycling. 
Appledown House. Appledown House Country Bed and Breakfast is set in a lovely rural location in the heart of the Devon countryside just about as far away from the every day stresses and strains of your normal life as you want to be yet less than 10 minutes drive to Tavistock and Dartmoor. Inspected by the Dartmoor Partnership their assessor David Farrant said: Appledown House will be a 1st class addition to our membership and is thoroughly recommended. Rooms are comfortable light and airy and well-furnished. Two of the bedrooms (both en-suite with showers) form the detached ground floor annexe and can be interconnected via an adjoining door (useful for familiesfriends). The superior twinsuperking located in the annexe has its own conservatory where breakfast can be taken in the summer months overlooking the heated outdoor pool and fabulous views towards Dartmoor. A further room (en-suite with king size bed) is available on the first floor of the main house which also has wonderful views over the pool and beautiful countryside. Well behaved children are welcome. We have ample off road parking for all our guests together with secure bicycle storage and drying area. Our heated outdoor swimming pool (open during the summer) is set in its own terrace within the south facing grounds of just under 3 acres. The northeast paddock is home to our free-range chickens who provide you daily with wholesome fresh eggs for your breakfast. There are several inns within 0.5m and a variety of different eating experiences are available in nearby Tavistock. Dartmoor is virtually on the doorstep yet our country retreat is only 3.5 miles from the Stannary town of Tavistock. The City of Plymouth which boasts its own airport and ferry port lies just 14 miles to the South whilst the M5 motorway and the Cathedral City of Exeter with its international airport can easily be accessed via the A30 dual carriageway. Tavistock is in a uniquely central position making visits to the rest of Devon and to most of Cornwall easy e.g Eden HeliganTruro and St Austell Bideford Bude and Newquay in under an hour Plymouth and Looe less than 30 mins.
Browns Hotel. It is exclusively for use by guests.
Coombe Wood Lodge. The house is new with all modern facilities and is roomy and comfortable. We endeavour to make all our guests welcome starting with tea and biscuits on arrival. There is also afternoon tea available so that you can come back and relax at any time. We are set in open countryside and have lovely views all around. An excellent PubRestaurant is only 2 mins. away. The famous Stannary town of Tavistock is only three miles away and Dartmoor with its National Park is a great place for walkers and sight -seers and we are only 30 minutes from the coast. For those who like history the Victorian living Museum of Morwellham is only a ten minute drive away with a range of walks mine rides and ladies in victorian finery. The well known chef Peter Gorton is taking over the running of the Morwellham Quay pub at the living Museum (so well worth a visit). New cycle trails are currently being made locally so there is something for all the family. We have storage and repair facilities for cyclists and plenty of easy parking for the motorist. For those without transport we provide a pick-up service to and from the Tavistock bus station. Well behaved children are welcome and families can be accomodated using the double and twin rooms in conjuction with each other along with our very large family bathroom at a very low rate.
