Bampton takes its floral displays very seriously and and has won the national Britain in Bloom competition no less than six times.Landlord Ian Adams is a Fellow of the 'British Institute of Innkeepers' (FBII) the professional body for the Licensed trade and is recognized as having high professional standards throughout the industry. On top of this he has been awarded the 'Cask Marque' accreditation for the high standard of quality of the real Ales which are available at the Exeter Inn. Heron House. First time visitors to Heron House cannot help but be charmed by this delightful Georgian town house with its beautiful walled garden in the centre of the ancient village of Bampton. A quiet ambience prevails in the interior of the house with an elegant drawing room and cosy dining room furnished with a mix of contemporary and fine antiques and art. The effortlessly chic style continues upstairs where you will sleep soundly in one of three specious bedrooms each with their own private or en suite bathroom one with a 4 poster bed and where dedication to guests comfort is evident.Your host Fiona offers the friendliest of welcome. Fiona has been in the Interior Design business for years and has thoroughly enjoyed bringing what was a very tired house back to life. Fiona is an acumplished cook and a keen gardener a visit to the National Trust property of Knightshayes Court and gardens is a must for any entheusiastic gardener staying at Heron House and Fiona will recommend other gardens such as Cotehay Manor Rosemoor and Hestercombe amongst others for you to visit during your stay.Bampton is set in the foothills of Exmoor National Park and is 10 minutes from Dulverton 30 from both North and South Devon beaches and is an ideal base for walking cycling (Southwest Route No. 3 goes past the front door) riding shooting fishing wind surfing surfing sailing and bird watching. Set yourself up for the day with one of Fiona's scrumptious breakfasts using fresh local produce cooked on the Aga and served in the dining room. If you come back wet from a soggy walk we will even dry your clothes!
