Sharpham Vineyard and Cheese Dairy – Located on the banks of the River Dart, near Totnes in South Devon, the Sharpham Estate consists of a 1000 year old farmstead crowned by Sharpham House, built in 1770 to a design by Sir Robert Taylor. The house overlooks a vineyard and meadows running down to the river. Come and try the Sharpham Experience where you can explore the natural beauty of the Sharpham Estate with its vineyard and riverside walks; sample award winning wines and cheeses and learn about the fine arts of making wine and cheese. The Sharpham Shop sells produce along with a mail order facility. There is a self-directed 30 minute Trek and Taste tour of the vineyard with wine and cheese tasting available ranging from £2.50 per person to £8.95 per person as well as a guided two hour tour priced at £12.95 each.

To really get a feel for the whole process why not undertake the ‘Sharpham Experience’ – On arrival receive tea and coffee, followed by a tour of the vineyard including its history and the principles involved in making fine English wine. Next enjoy a scenic river walk along the banks of the River Dart followed by a tutored wine tasting, finishing off with lunch including some of the Sharpham cheeses along with local breads and salad. The Sharpham Experience runs between May and September on specific dates and lasts for approximately 4 hours. It costs £49.50 per person and booking is essential. Open: March 1st to December 23rd from 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and every day including Sundays and Bank Holidays between May and the end of September.
